SHARJAH- A two-year-old Pakistani boy has died after falling from the third floor of a residential building in Sharjah in an incident that authorities are investigating involving two young girls believed to be neighbours.

The victim, Mohammad Arshman, reportedly fell from an opening near a staircase window inside the building. Sharjah Police have confirmed that the case is under investigation and has been referred to child protection authorities for further examination.

According to surveillance footage reviewed by investigators, the toddler was playing outside his family’s apartment shortly before the incident occurred. The footage allegedly shows two girls, believed to be around 10 years old, interacting with the child near the staircase area moments before the fatal fall.

Authorities have not yet established the exact circumstances or motive behind the incident and have urged the public to allow investigators to complete their work.

The boy’s father, Sajjad Hussein, described the loss as devastating. Speaking after viewing the CCTV footage, he said the incident occurred within moments while the child’s mother had briefly stepped inside their apartment.

“My son trusted them and followed them towards the staircase area,” Hussein said. “Everything happened within seconds. I still struggle to believe what I saw.”

The father said Mohammad Arshman was born after five years of marriage and was the centre of the family’s life. The couple also have a two-month-old daughter.

A building watchman said he rushed to investigate after hearing cries for help. Upon reaching the ground floor, he found the child’s mother in distress and immediately contacted emergency services.

Police officers, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) personnel and forensic experts later arrived at the scene to collect evidence and review surveillance footage from multiple cameras within the building.

Residents expressed shock at the tragedy, describing the incident as deeply disturbing and difficult to comprehend.

The grieving family has since returned to Pakistan, although Hussein said he plans to return to the UAE in the coming months.

He urged parents to remain vigilant and closely supervise young children at all times.

“It took less than a minute for our lives to change forever,” he said. “Parents should always be careful and never assume their children are completely safe, even for a brief moment.”

Sharjah Police said investigations remain ongoing while child protection officials continue reviewing all aspects of the case.
