DUBAI — Dubai is set to host the 12th World Green Economy Summit on October 21 and 22, bringing together 135 ministers, government officials, business leaders, investors and sustainability experts to discuss practical solutions for accelerating the global green transition.
The summit will be held at Dubai World Trade Centre under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
The event is organised by the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and the World Green Economy Organization (WGEO) under the theme, “From Success to Scale: Showcasing the Green Economy.”
The two-day gathering will focus on how successful green initiatives can be expanded into large-scale projects capable of delivering measurable environmental and economic impact.
Participants will exchange expertise and explore opportunities for stronger cooperation between governments, businesses, investors and international organisations.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA and Chairman of WGEO, said the summit’s broad range of participants would help strengthen practical cooperation and accelerate the transition from climate ambitions to implementation.
The programme will also feature international experts, including Arshad Mansoor, President and CEO of the Electric Power Research Institute; Bashar Al-Natoor of Fitch Ratings; and Avinash Kumar of Earthood.
Discussions will examine the role of green finance, including ESG sukuk, green bonds and sustainability-linked financial instruments, in funding renewable energy, climate resilience and other sustainable development projects.
The summit’s agenda is built around four key pillars: Energy Technology and Infrastructure; Business Strategy and Transition; Water and Food Security; and Finance.
Artificial intelligence, governance and other system enablers—including supply chains and the circular economy—will also feature across the summit’s sessions.
The World Green Economy Summit is expected to provide a platform for governments, investors and industry leaders to examine scalable solutions for building more sustainable economies.
