CAIRO- Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit strongly condemned what he described as Iranian attacks targeting the territories of the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait, as well as the territorial waters of Qatar, calling them a clear violation of international law.
In a statement issued on Monday, Aboul Gheit also expressed full solidarity with the Bahrain following the kingdom’s announcement that 41 individuals linked to foreign entities had been arrested over alleged plots aimed at destabilising the country’s security and stability.
The Arab League chief rejected what he called an unjustified escalation, warning that such actions could jeopardise diplomatic efforts seeking a peaceful end to the conflict.
He further cautioned that continued aggressive behaviour risks plunging the region into deeper instability and chaos, while reaffirming the Arab League’s support for the affected Gulf states in safeguarding their sovereignty, territories and territorial waters.
