ABU DHABI, August 1, 2026 – The United Arab Emirates has welcomed the announcement by U.S. President Donald Trump that a historic agreement has been reached on the disarmament of Hamas and other armed groups in the Gaza Strip under his proposed 20-point peace plan aimed at ending the war.
In a statement issued on Friday, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) described the agreement as an important breakthrough that could help bring an end to the conflict, strengthen regional security, and create momentum for a political process leading to a lasting and sustainable peace.
The ministry praised President Trump for his role in advancing the initiative and also commended the diplomatic efforts of Qatar, Egypt, and Türkiye, whose mediation helped the parties reach the agreement.
According to the UAE, the deal outlines a phased disarmament process, the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, and the deployment of an international stabilisation force alongside a newly established Palestinian police force to maintain security in the territory.
The ministry expressed hope that the agreement would ease the humanitarian crisis, restore stability, and create conditions necessary for the reconstruction of Gaza after months of devastating conflict.
Reaffirming its long-standing commitment to peace, the UAE stressed its continued support for regional and international initiatives aimed at reducing tensions and achieving a comprehensive political settlement. It also underscored the urgent need to ensure the safe, rapid, and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza.
The UAE reiterated that lasting peace can only be achieved through a just political solution based on the two-state framework, ensuring security, stability, and prosperity for both Palestinians and Israelis across the region.
