Dubai Ports Authority has introduced an advanced smart platform that leverages artificial intelligence and robotic process automation to issue operational approvals and safe work permits—marking a significant milestone in the emirate’s journey toward comprehensive digital transformation.
The new system is designed to streamline government services, boost efficiency, and reinforce safety standards across port operations. It aligns with the broader strategy of the Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation to integrate cutting-edge technologies and transition essential services into fully self-managed digital workflows.
According to Nasser AlNeyadi, CEO of the Corporation, the initiative aims to provide a smoother customer experience while supporting safer, more efficient maritime activities. The platform covers approvals for operations that comply with established technical and safety standards, including dangerous goods acceptance, vessel bunkering, ship waste discharge to reception facilities, and safe work permits across ports and ship repair zones.
Handling approximately 44,000 transactions annually, the system can instantly issue approvals for eligible requests after automated verification. Requests that do not meet the predefined criteria are routed to human specialists to maintain strong governance and compliance.
AlNeyadi emphasized that the project underscores Dubai’s commitment to innovation and global competitiveness. By accelerating processing times and enhancing service delivery, the smart platform strengthens the emirate’s position as a premier global hub for trade and maritime activity. He added that the system will continue to evolve, with ongoing enhancements planned to support Dubai’s long-term digital transformation objectives.
