ABU DHABI — The UAE has launched a round-the-clock hotline, Hisn (80044), to provide confidential support, treatment, and rehabilitation for people struggling with drug addiction, the National Drug Enforcement Authority announced.

The initiative reflects the country’s commitment to prioritising public health and quality of life by encouraging individuals to seek professional help without fear of legal consequences. Under UAE law, those who voluntarily seek treatment through the service, or are referred by family members, are exempt from criminal prosecution.

Available 24 hours a day, the toll-free hotline connects callers with qualified psychiatrists, addiction specialists, and behavioural counsellors who provide immediate guidance, clinical assessments, and personalised treatment plans tailored to each individual’s needs.

The programme adopts a compassionate approach, recognising addiction as a medical condition rather than a criminal issue. Treatment focuses on addressing the biological and psychological causes of substance abuse, managing withdrawal symptoms, and supporting long-term recovery.

Beyond medical treatment, the Hisn service partners with leading healthcare facilities across the UAE to provide psychological rehabilitation, behavioural therapy, life-skills development, and relapse prevention programmes. It also supports individuals in rebuilding family relationships and successfully reintegrating into society.

The initiative extends assistance to parents by providing expert guidance on recognising early warning signs of drug use, responding effectively to behavioural changes, and protecting young people from online drug trafficking networks.

The National Drug Enforcement Authority said the service is built on four key guarantees: complete confidentiality, absolute privacy, access to internationally recognised medical care, and full legal immunity for individuals who voluntarily seek treatment.

Officials said the hotline sends a strong message that recovery begins with seeking help, assuring individuals and families that they will receive professional support in a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental environment.
