White House sources say the United States and Iran have agreed on a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to extend the current ceasefire for another 60 days, creating space for formal negotiations. However, US President Donald Trump has not yet officially approved the proposal.
Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency, citing a source close to the negotiating team, reported that the MoU text is still being finalised and has not yet been officially confirmed. Authorities said the public would be informed once the agreement is completed.
Meanwhile, violence continues across the region. In Lebanon, Israeli air strikes killed at least 20 people on Thursday, including a woman and two children in southern Beirut, according to local reports.
In Gaza, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reportedly instructed troops to expand military control over the territory, with plans to seize at least 70 percent of Gaza despite ongoing ceasefire discussions. The escalation follows an Israeli strike on Gaza City that killed at least 10 people, including children.
The European Union has also announced sanctions against four organisations and three individuals identified as extremist Israeli settlers, accusing them of involvement in human rights abuses against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.
