Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says its naval forces struck a US “Saildrone-type” unmanned vessel in the Strait of Hormuz, claiming the operation thwarted what it described as an “aggressive mission”.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said it had received a report of projectiles hitting two vessels off the coast of Oman, although details of the incidents were not immediately clear.

The latest developments come amid heightened tensions in the region, with the Strait of Hormuz remaining a major flashpoint in the wider conflict between Iran and the United States.

Meanwhile, Yemen’s Houthi group has seized the strategic Red Sea city of Mocha, strengthening its control over areas near the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, a vital international maritime trade route.
