The UAE Gender Balance Council has brought together more than 100 representatives from government entities and private-sector organisations to help shape the country’s next Gender Balance Strategy, covering the period 2027 to 2031.

The national dialogue, held through interactive workshops and discussion sessions, gave stakeholders a direct role in defining priorities for the upcoming strategy. Topics ranged from artificial intelligence and the future of work to economic participation, leadership culture, entrepreneurship and family caregiving responsibilities.

H.H. Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE Gender Balance Council, said the strategy represents a new milestone in building on existing achievements and developing policies that strengthen the UAE’s readiness for the future.

H.E. Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice President of the Council, noted that the next phase will focus on driving tangible impact in workplaces, supporting career progression and leadership, and preparing institutions for the demands of the future economy.

Eight new organisations joined the SDG 5 Pledge at the event, bringing the total number of signatories to 88. The new additions include Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, Stellantis, Deloitte, Sanofi, Al Nabooda Automobiles, SAAL, Rosewood Abu Dhabi and Goumbook.

The Council also announced the opening of nominations for the Family-Friendly Workplace Award 2026, open exclusively to SDG 5 Pledge signatories. The award recognises companies that have translated gender balance commitments into practical workplace policies supporting families and work-life balance.

The new strategy builds on the UAE’s record of advancing women’s participation across sectors through legislation and national initiatives, with a focus on connecting economic development, social progress and quality of life as the country prepares for future transformation.
