DUBAI: The United States and Iran are exploring the possibility of holding another round of direct negotiations as both sides attempt to secure a longer-term ceasefire and prevent renewed conflict. The discussions follow recent talks in Islamabad that ended without a comprehensive agreement, according to reports citing sources familiar with the matter.

Officials from both countries are now considering scheduling a follow-up meeting before the current temporary ceasefire, brokered earlier this month, expires. The renewed diplomatic push signals a shared interest in maintaining open communication channels despite ongoing tensions.

JD Vance was recently seen engaging with Shehbaz Sharif during discussions linked to the peace process, underscoring Pakistan’s growing role as a mediator between Washington and Tehran.

Islamabad has again been suggested as a potential venue for the next round of talks, with Pakistani officials confirming they remain actively involved in efforts to revive negotiations before the ceasefire lapses.

These developments come amid a fragile truce and heightened regional tensions that continue to pose risks of broader conflict, including potential disruptions to global energy markets.
