Presidents of UAE and Ecuador Hold Talks to Deepen Bilateral Cooperation

Abu Dhabi, February  UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Tuesday held talks with His Excellency Daniel Noboa, President of the Republic of Ecuador, focused on strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation across key development sectors.

The meeting took place at Qasr Al Bahr in Abu Dhabi during President Noboa’s working visit to the United Arab Emirates.

Discussions centred on enhancing collaboration in areas including the economy, trade, renewable energy, investment, sustainability, and food security, alongside other sectors that advance mutual interests and promote the wellbeing of both nations.

Both leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to broadening UAE–Ecuador cooperation, highlighting opportunities to further develop bilateral ties. His Highness noted that relations between the two countries span more than five decades and have seen steady growth, particularly in development-oriented fields.

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed emphasised the UAE’s strong interest in deepening economic partnerships with Latin American countries, pointing to significant strategic steps taken in recent years to strengthen cooperation and foster shared prosperity across the region.

The two presidents also exchanged views on regional and international issues of common concern, underscoring the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in supporting global peace and stability.

President Noboa expressed his appreciation for the UAE President’s commitment to reinforcing bilateral relations and affirmed Ecuador’s keen interest in expanding cooperation with the UAE, particularly in the areas of economic development and investment.

The meeting was attended by H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi; H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; several ministers; senior officials; and members of the Ecuadorian delegation.

During the meeting, the two leaders witnessed the announcement of the conclusion of negotiations on a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the UAE and Ecuador. The agreement was exchanged by H.E. Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation, and H.E. Luis Alberto Jaramillo, Ecuador’s Minister of Production, Foreign Trade and Investment.

They also witnessed the exchange of a memorandum of understanding between the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and Petroecuador. The MoU was exchanged by H.E. Dr Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, and H.E. Inés María Manzano Díaz, Ecuador’s Minister of Environment and Energy.
