The Nafis programme is recording results that far exceed expectations, with new indicators showing it is on track to surpass 170 percent of its targets, according to Ghannam Al Mazrouei, Secretary General of the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council.

Al Mazrouei said the number of Emiratis working in the private and banking sectors has risen from 29,000 to more than 157,000 in four years. He described the 437 percent growth as a significant shift in the role of national talent within the private sector.
He noted that the programme is also reshaping graduate perceptions. The attractiveness of private sector careers among Emirati graduates grew from 15 percent to 58 percent, indicating a clear change in youth preferences toward private sector opportunities.
Al Mazrouei confirmed that Nafis has already achieved 92 percent of the goals initially set for 2026, crediting the progress to strong leadership support and the alignment of both public and private sectors in empowering Emirati professionals.
He said the year 2026 is expected to bring a deeper move toward specialized and high value roles for nationals, with an increased focus on career development and enabling long term growth for Emiratis in advanced and leadership positions.
He added that the next phase will prioritise stronger retention strategies and improved workplace environments to ensure stability and continuity for national talent across the private sector.
