Dubai Ruler His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, has issued a decree renaming the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charity and Humanitarian Establishment to the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charitable Establishment.
The change, announced under Decree No. (36) of 2025, replaces the name established under Decree No. (13) of 1997. The foundation will continue to operate as a non-profit serving the public interest, guided by Sheikh Mohammed and overseen by its Supreme Chairman.
The Establishment works with government entities and international organisations to deliver charitable and humanitarian programmes. Its initiatives include development projects, cultural and social welfare efforts, and support for education, health, and religious activities in the UAE and abroad.
It also extends assistance to patients in need, provides access to medicines, and supports families facing financial difficulties, helping to reinforce social stability. The organisation plays a key role in international relief operations, delivering aid to communities affected by crises and disasters.
The Establishment remains subject to oversight from the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai and the Community Development Authority, in line with existing legislation regulating non-profits and charitable activities in the emirate.
Decree No. (36) of 2025 replaces the original founding decree but maintains the validity of other recent decisions, including Decree No. (49) of 2023 on the appointment of its Supreme Chairman and Resolution No. (29) of 2023 on the re-formation of its Board of Trustees.
The decree takes effect from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
