Etihad Rail will begin its introductory passenger service phase on June 30, 2026, marking a major milestone in the UAE’s national transport network. The initial route will connect Abu Dhabi and Fujairah, significantly reducing travel time to just 1 hour and 45 minutes.

The rollout of the wider network will continue in stages. Dubai and Al Dhaid stations are scheduled to open on September 30, 2026, followed by Al Dhafra stations on December 30, 2026. The full route is expected to be completed with the opening of the Sharjah station on March 30, 2027.

Fares for the Abu Dhabi–Fujairah service will start at Dh55 for Comfort Class and Dh120 for Premium Class. The network will operate a fleet of 13 trains, each with a capacity of up to 400 passengers. Tickets will be available through the Etihad Rail mobile app and official website starting June 23, 2026.

The announcement was made during the inauguration of the Mohamed bin Zayed City Passenger Train Station in Abu Dhabi, attended by senior UAE leadership, including Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He highlighted the project as a key step toward building a fully integrated, sustainable transport system that strengthens connectivity between emirates and supports economic growth, tourism, and urban development.

Etihad Rail leadership described the passenger network as a transformative upgrade to the UAE’s transport infrastructure, designed to improve mobility, efficiency, and integration with other transport modes across the country.
