ABU DHABI, June 11, 2026 — The United Arab Emirates has launched an urgent humanitarian response to assist communities affected by the powerful 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck the southern coast of the Philippines, leaving at least 35 people dead and more than 200 injured.
Through the UAE Aid Agency, emergency relief supplies are being delivered to support those impacted by the disaster and help accelerate recovery efforts.
Dr. Tareq Ahmed Al Ameri, Chairman of the UAE Aid Agency, said the rapid response reflects the UAE’s commitment to standing with nations facing natural disasters and humanitarian crises.
“This urgent UAE response stems from our responsibility toward communities affected by disasters around the world. Our goal is to ease the suffering of those impacted by the earthquake and support recovery and stability efforts in coordination with international organisations and local authorities,” he said.
Dr. Al Ameri noted that the assistance was provided following a comprehensive needs assessment conducted in collaboration with Philippine authorities and humanitarian partners to identify the most pressing requirements of affected communities.
He emphasized the UAE’s commitment to ensuring the swift delivery of essential aid during emergencies, in line with humanitarian assessments issued by relevant United Nations agencies.
The UAE also reaffirmed its solidarity with the Republic of the Philippines following the earthquake that struck the Mindanao region. Through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the UAE extended its deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives, as well as to the government and people of the Philippines.
The UAE further expressed its wishes for a speedy recovery to all those injured in the disaster.
