DUBAI – The United Arab Emirates has confirmed that no Ebola cases have been detected within its borders, following concerns linked to a traveller who later tested positive for the virus after leaving the country.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) reassured residents that the country’s health system remains on high alert and that extensive disease surveillance measures are in place to safeguard public health.
According to the ministry, the individual in question had visited the UAE before travelling to Uganda, where they were diagnosed with Ebola several days after departing the Emirates. Authorities clarified that the traveller did not seek medical treatment or visit any healthcare facility during their stay in the UAE.
MoHAP said health authorities immediately activated precautionary protocols as part of the country’s established public health response framework. These measures included risk assessments, contact tracing, and the implementation of internationally approved preventive procedures.
The ministry emphasized that no Ebola infections have been recorded in the UAE and that health officials continue to work closely with the World Health Organization (WHO) and other international health agencies to monitor developments and evaluate potential risks.
“The UAE maintains a high level of preparedness and robust disease surveillance systems to protect public health,” the ministry stated.
Officials also called on members of the public to avoid spreading rumours or unverified information and instead rely on official government channels for accurate updates regarding public health matters.
The reassurance comes as global health authorities continue monitoring infectious disease outbreaks in various regions, with the UAE reaffirming its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of health security and emergency preparedness.
