DUBAI- The UAE strongly condemned Iran’s missile and drone attacks targeting Kuwait on Thursday, reaffirming its full solidarity with the Gulf nation as tensions across the Middle East continued to escalate.
The condemnation came amid renewed confrontation between the United States and Iran following reported US strikes on drones near the Strait of Hormuz and retaliatory Iranian actions linked to a suspected American military base in the region.
At the same time, Israel intensified its military operations against Hezbollah, carrying out fresh airstrikes in Beirut’s southern suburbs despite an existing ceasefire agreement. The Israeli military said the strike targeted a Hezbollah missile commander, marking the first attack on the Lebanese capital since the truce came into effect.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei accused the United States and Israel of attempting to destabilise the Islamic republic through military pressure, economic sanctions, and political isolation. In a message broadcast on state television, Khamenei said the two nations were seeking to “bring the nation to its knees” by creating division and instability inside Iran.
The latest developments highlight growing instability across the Gulf and wider Middle East, with fears mounting that the conflict could expand further if diplomatic efforts fail.
