- US President Donald Trump said he had “very good talks” with Iran, adding that “it’s very possible we’ll make a deal”.
- Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, Esmaeil Baghaei, said a US proposal to end the war is still “under review”, and Tehran will convey its response to mediator Pakistan after “finalising its views”, according to Iran’s ISNA news agency.
- Israel bombed Beirut in an expansion of attacks on Lebanon and in the first strike on the Lebanese capital since a “ceasefire”, in name only, came into force on April 17.
- Israeli forces have consistently violated the ceasefire with Lebanon and on Wednesday killed at least 13 people in attacks across the country, including claiming to have targeted a senior Hezbollah commander in a strike on Beirut.
- Hamas has condemned Israel’s attacks on Gaza, calling the daily bombings and growing death toll a “blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement” and a continuation of Israel’s “war of extermination” in the Palestinian territory.
