The Emirates Health Services has announced that Dr. Nuha Al Zaabi, a consultant in genetic, metabolic, and paediatric diseases at Fujairah Hospital, has been awarded the Down Syndrome Research Award – State of Kuwait Award in the Eastern Mediterranean Region by the World Health Organization.
This distinguished recognition celebrates Dr. Al Zaabi’s exceptional contributions to advancing scientific research and enhancing healthcare services for individuals with Down syndrome and their families. Her work has also played a key role in strengthening an integrated care system for this group across the region.
Dr. Essam Al Zarooni, Executive Director of the Clinical Services Sector at Emirates Health Services, noted that the award reflects the high calibre of medical professionals within the organisation. He emphasized the institution’s continued commitment to research, innovation, and the development of specialised care models aligned with international best practices.
He further highlighted the organisation’s focus on building a comprehensive genetic care system and supporting research initiatives that improve patient outcomes and quality of life. These efforts align with the UAE’s broader vision of fostering a healthier society and positioning the country as a regional hub for medical excellence.
