DUBAI-The Dubai Press Club (DPC) has launched a new professional workshop series focused on crisis communication and media management, beginning with a high-level session that brought together key figures from Dubai’s media and regulatory sectors.
The session featured Rashid Al Marri, CEO of the Media Regulatory Office at the Dubai Media Council, and Hend Fekri, Director of Strategic Media Relations at the Government of Dubai Media Office.
Al Marri outlined Dubai’s media regulatory framework, explaining that it operates within a federal system supported by local legislation. He noted that the Dubai Media Council serves as the central regulatory body, while the Media Regulatory Office—established in late 2025—handles local implementation. He emphasized that licensed media outlets are required to verify information, rely on official sources, and remain accountable for their content, particularly during critical events.
He also clarified the distinction between media regulations and cybercrime laws, and highlighted the Public Guide to Filming in Dubai as a key multilingual resource designed to inform the public about filming rules and legal responsibilities.
Fekri highlighted Dubai’s crisis communication model, describing it as anchored in speed, clarity, and coordination. She explained that a unified response system is activated early during crises, ensuring consistent messaging across official platforms. She also underscored the importance of multilingual communication in reaching Dubai’s diverse population.
“Trust is the most valuable element of crisis communication,” Fekri said. “It is built through deliberate and consistent action.”
The workshop series aims to enhance professional standards within the media sector while supporting Dubai’s broader vision of a resilient and future-ready media ecosystem.
