A Dubai court has sentenced a motorist to three months in prison and suspended his driving licence for one year following a dangerous road rage incident that escalated into a physical assault.
According to Dubai Public Prosecution, the driver engaged in reckless behaviour by deliberately swerving into another vehicle before aggressively pursuing the motorist. The accused then blocked the victim’s path, forcing him to stop on the roadside.
Authorities said the situation worsened when the driver exited his vehicle and physically attacked the victim. The reckless actions not only endangered the targeted motorist but also posed a serious risk to other road users.
The incident also resulted in damage to the victim’s vehicle, prompting an investigation by the Traffic Prosecution. Following the inquiry, prosecutors ordered the driver’s detention and referred the matter to court.
After examining the evidence, the court found the accused guilty and imposed a three-month jail term along with a one-year suspension of his driving licence.
Counselor Salah Al Falasi, Senior Advocate General and Head of Traffic Prosecution, urged motorists to exercise patience and self-control while driving. He stressed that law enforcement and judicial authorities are solely responsible for dealing with offenders and warned against taking matters into one’s own hands.
Al Falasi further emphasised that UAE laws provide legal channels for seeking justice and protect the rights of all individuals, noting that confrontational behaviour can lead to serious legal consequences.
