ISLAMABAD — Oman and Pakistan have signed a visa exemption agreement and four memoranda of understanding (MoUs) aimed at strengthening cooperation in technology, broadcasting, news exchange and archival services.
The agreements were signed on Wednesday at the Prime Minister’s Office in Islamabad during an official visit by Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif witnessed the signing ceremony, with Al Busaidi representing Oman and Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar signing on behalf of his country.
The visa exemption agreement covers holders of diplomatic, special, service and official passports, allowing eligible officials to travel between the two countries under the agreed arrangements.
The four MoUs focus on telecommunications and information technology, radio and television broadcasting, the exchange of news and information, and cooperation between Oman’s National Records and Archives Authority and Pakistan’s National Archives.
The agreements are expected to strengthen institutional links, facilitate the sharing of expertise and improve coordination between government agencies and media organisations in both countries.
Oman and Pakistan also signed the minutes of the eighth session of their Joint Ministerial Committee, reaffirming their commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation.
The latest agreements are intended to deepen partnerships across key sectors and advance shared economic, technological and institutional interests.
