DUBAI – Cheetah Airlines Cargo has announced plans to introduce a weekly direct cargo service to Tanzania as part of efforts to strengthen trade links between the United Arab Emirates and East Africa.
The announcement was made on Wednesday during an interactive networking dinner hosted by the airline at the Hyatt Hotel in Deira, Dubai. The event brought together exporters, freight forwarders and cargo industry stakeholders to discuss opportunities and challenges in the regional cargo sector.
Speaking at the event, Cheetah Airlines Director John Rutto said the new Tanzania route was a direct response to growing demand from exporters who have been seeking faster and more reliable cargo transportation.
“We have listened to our customers and understand the challenges they have faced with delayed shipments caused by connecting flights. Our weekly direct service to Tanzania is designed to provide a faster, more efficient and dependable solution for exporters,” said Rutto.
He said the airline remains committed to improving cargo connectivity between the UAE and Africa by introducing services that respond to market needs.
“Africa presents enormous opportunities for trade, and our goal is to bridge the gap by offering reliable cargo solutions that support businesses across the continent. Tanzania is the first step, and we are looking at expanding our footprint as demand continues to grow,” he said.
Rutto also revealed that while regulatory approval has so far been secured for Tanzania, the airline is ready to operate charter cargo flights to other destinations across East and West Africa whenever demand arises.
“We are open to charter cargo operations to various African destinations. As we obtain the necessary clearances, we will continue expanding our network to better serve exporters and importers,” he added.
Participants at the networking dinner welcomed the initiative, noting that direct cargo flights would help reduce transit times, minimise delays and improve the movement of goods between the UAE and African markets.
The event formed part of Cheetah Airlines Cargo’s ongoing engagement programme aimed at strengthening relationships with exporters and creating a platform for industry players to exchange ideas on improving cargo logistics.
The dinner attracted executives and representatives from several leading cargo and freight companies operating in the UAE, who discussed emerging opportunities in the African logistics market and the growing demand for direct cargo connectivity.
