From Dar es Salaam to Dubai: Tanford Summit 2026 Begins with Strategic Vision

The Tanzania National Forum for Development (TANFORD) Seminar is currently underway at the Shangri-La Hotel in Dubai, bringing together high-level government officials, business leaders and members of the diaspora for a strategic dialogue on trade, investment and economic cooperation.

The high-level summit was officially opened by Tanzania’s Deputy Minister for Industry and Trade, Hon Patrobas Paschal Katambi, who was accompanied by Tanzania’s Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Hon Cosato David Chumi, reinforcing the country’s diplomatic and regional trade priorities.

Also present was the  Tanzania’s Ambassador to the UAE, Lt. Gen. (Rtd.) Yacoub Hassan Mohamed Lt Gen Hakub Mohammed, alongside senior government officials from both Tanzania and the host country, the United Arab Emirates.

In his opening remarks, Hon. Katambi congratulated TANFORD and its Chairperson , Mr. Hussein Jamal, for convening what he described as a “timely and visionary platform” that positions Tanzania as a gateway to Africa and the global economy. He underscored Tanzania’s expanding industrial base, improving trade infrastructure and investor-friendly reforms, calling on international partners to seize emerging opportunities in the country.

“Tanzania is strategically positioned as a gateway to Africa and the world. Our growing economy, stable political environment and ongoing reforms provide unmatched opportunities for investors,” he said.

Beyond government representation, the TANFORD summit has drawn captains of industry, chief executive officers, business owners and entrepreneurs from across Africa, the Middle East and the diaspora community.

The forum features:

  • Presentations from various Tanzanian government departments
  • Investment showcases by private companies
  • Diaspora-led business initiatives
  • Panel discussions focusing on trade logistics and cross-border investment
  • Strategic networking sessions
