NEW DELHI, 11th February 2026 (WAM) — The United Arab Emirates participated in the first BRICS Sherpa and Sous Sherpa Meeting of 2026, held in New Delhi from 9–10 February under India’s presidency.
The UAE delegation was led by Omran Sharaf, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Advanced Science and Technology.
Held under the theme “Building Resilience and Innovation for Cooperation and Sustainability,” the meeting outlined four key pillars that will shape BRICS engagement in 2026: Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability.
Discussions focused on strengthening collaboration across several priority areas, including people-to-people exchanges, healthcare, agriculture, economy and finance, energy, institutional development, and reforms in global governance.
Sharaf also represented the UAE at a high-level meeting of delegation heads with India’s Minister of External Affairs, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.
The UAE’s participation reflects its continued commitment to multilateral cooperation and coordinated global action as essential tools for addressing shared international challenges and promoting peace, stability, and sustainable prosperity.
