ABU DHABI: — The United Arab Emirates has welcomed the landmark free trade agreement concluded between the Republic of India and the European Union, describing it as a significant step towards strengthening global economic cooperation.
Saeed Al Hajeri, Minister of State, praised the agreement as a reflection of the shared commitment by India and the EU to advance free trade, economic openness, and sustainable growth. He said the deal serves as a strong example of modern economic partnerships that foster prosperity and long-term development.
Al Hajeri highlighted the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the UAE and India as a successful model of strategic trade cooperation, built on mutual interests, deeper economic integration, and sustainable development objectives. He noted that such comprehensive agreements play a critical role in delivering tangible economic benefits to all parties involved.
He also expressed the UAE’s aspiration to successfully conclude its ongoing negotiations with the European Union, paving the way for the signing of a CEPA that reflects the depth of relations and shared interests between the UAE and the EU.
Furthermore, Al Hajeri reaffirmed the UAE’s steadfast support for strengthening international trade, expanding strategic economic partnerships, and enhancing global economic integration, underscoring the country’s firm belief in the role of free trade as a key driver of stability and prosperity at both regional and international levels.
