DP World Expands Electric Fleet At Jebel Ali Port To Advance Green Operations
DP World has significantly expanded its electric internal terminal vehicle (eITV) fleet at Jebel Ali Port, growing from just 14 units in December 2024 to 146 by October 2025, marking one of the largest electric port fleets in the Middle East.

The move is a major step in DP World’s push toward cleaner logistics, expected to cut diesel consumption and lower greenhouse gas emissions by more than 10 percent—equivalent to removing 2,255 cars from the road every year.

The eITVs are vital to terminal operations, transporting containers between quay cranes, yard stacks, and gates. The expanded fleet includes 35 diesel vehicles converted to electric by DP World’s in-house engineering teams, alongside over 100 newly sourced electric models from leading international manufacturers.

Supporting the transition, DP World has installed a network of rapid-charging stations across Jebel Ali Port, enabling continuous, high-efficiency operations. The rollout represents one of the region’s largest single investments in electric port mobility.

In addition to the eITVs, the company has introduced 11 electric empty container handlers, further enhancing sustainability in yard logistics and container management.

Abdulla Bin Damithan, CEO and Managing Director of DP World GCC, said the electrification drive aligns with the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 ambitions.

“By scaling our electric fleet and transitioning to cleaner energy at Jebel Ali Port, we are building future-ready and more resilient supply chains that benefit our customers and the communities we serve,”
he said.

The initiative cements DP World’s leadership in sustainable port operations, setting a new benchmark for environmental innovation in the region’s maritime sector.
