Dubai has taken a major step toward becoming a fully digital economy with the Department of Finance launching a citywide campaign to support the Dubai Cashless Strategy.
The initiative, rolled out in collaboration with government entities, fintech leaders, and private sector partners, aims to shift the majority of transactions in the emirate from cash to digital platforms. By the end of 2026, the strategy targets 90 percent of all payments across government and private sectors to be cashless.
Officials said the move is expected to strengthen financial efficiency, enhance convenience for residents and businesses, and attract greater investment into Dubai’s rapidly growing digital ecosystem. The transition is also projected to contribute more than AED 8 billion annually to the economy, underlining its role in driving sustainable growth.
The campaign will focus on raising public awareness, encouraging businesses to adopt secure digital payment systems, and highlighting the benefits of a cashless society. It also aligns with Dubai’s broader vision of becoming one of the most advanced, technology-driven cities in the world.
By building strong partnerships with international fintech firms and local innovators, the Department of Finance aims to ensure a smooth and inclusive transition, making digital payments accessible to all segments of society.
The launch marks a significant milestone in Dubai’s journey to redefine how financial transactions are carried out, setting the stage for a more connected and future-ready economy.
