More rain is expected in the Eastern regions, NCM issues flood alert
Dubai: Rainfall has been reported in several parts of the UAE, with the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) confirming that early morning showers hit Khorfakkan in Sharjah and Fujairah on Saturday, June 7 . This pleasant weather change comes as residents of the UAE enjoy a long weekend for the Eid Al Adha holiday, providing a refreshing break from the increasing summer heat.
The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has issued yellow and orange alerts for convective clouds across the eastern regions.
NCM also issued a flood alert, warning residents and motorists to avoid valleys and areas that are prone to flooding.
Rainfall has been reported in Khor fakkan, Nahwa, Al Rafisa dam, Wadi Shees in Sharjah and Al Qrayyah, Mirbih in Fujairah.
On Friday, rain showers swept through various regions, much to the delight of those looking to escape sweltering temperatures.
An Instagram account dedicated to weather updates in the UAE, @storm_ae, shared a captivating video showcasing the rainfall in Khorfakkan, highlighting the beauty of the moment.
The NCM had previously predicted that certain areas would experience rain during the holiday weekend, and their forecast has proven accurate. In general, the weather is expected to be fair to partly cloudy at times, with a potential for convective cloud formation that might lead to additional rainfall in eastern and northern regions.
Temperature forecasts for the region indicate highs of 41°C to 37°C along the coastal and island areas, 44°C to 39°C in the internal regions, and 34°C to 30°C in the mountains.
Additionally, humidity levels are expected to rise during the night and into Sunday morning over some coastal and internal areas, which may lead to fog or mist formation. Wind conditions are anticipated to be light to moderate, occasionally picking up in intensity.
The sea conditions will remain slight in the Arabian Gulf, while the Oman Sea may see slight to moderate waves.
