Airbus Plans Aircraft Component Manufacturing in UAE to Boost Aviation Sector
Airbus is set to pursue the manufacturing of key A400M aircraft components in the United Arab Emirates, marking a significant step in strengthening the country’s aerospace capabilities.
Gabriel Sémelas, President of Airbus in Africa and the Middle East, revealed the strategic initiative. The move will integrate UAE-based entities such as EPI and Strata into Airbus’s global aerospace supply chain, enhancing the nation’s role in the aviation industry.
As part of the plan, Airbus will establish comprehensive maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facilities for the A400M, a multi-role military transport aircraft, along with a dedicated training centre. These facilities aim to position the UAE as a regional hub for aviation excellence.
Sémelas highlighted Airbus’s dedication to developing local talent through specialised training and technical assistance programmes. The company will also foster strategic research partnerships to advance future industries in the UAE.
The initiative aligns with Airbus’s localisation strategy, which prioritises job creation and skills development. By implementing robust training programmes and fostering industrial collaborations, Airbus aims to equip the UAE workforce with cutting-edge expertise and bolster the country’s aerospace sector.
