ABU DHABI, 14 August 2026 — The United Arab Emirates has strongly condemned what it described as an Iranian attack targeting two vessels affiliated with ADNOC while they were transiting the Strait of Hormuz. No injuries were reported.
In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the incident was a serious violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2817, which stresses the importance of freedom of navigation and rejects attacks on commercial vessels or attempts to obstruct international maritime routes.
The Ministry said targeting commercial shipping and using the Strait of Hormuz to exert economic pressure or disrupt global trade poses a serious threat to regional stability and international energy security.
The UAE further condemned what it described as actions by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, warning that attacks on commercial shipping threaten the safety of vital maritime routes and the global economy.
