US President Donald Trump has announced a temporary pause in the military operation aimed at reopening the Strait of Hormuz, citing “significant progress” in ongoing negotiations with Iran. He described the move as a short-term measure to allow space for what he called a potential “complete and final agreement” with Iranian representatives.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian pushed back, accusing the United States of continuing its “maximum pressure” strategy and expecting Iran to concede to unilateral demands—something he said Tehran would not accept.

Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates reported a second consecutive day of missile and drone attacks allegedly launched from Iran. However, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps denied involvement.

Tehran has also accused US forces of killing five civilians in an attack on passenger boats in the Strait, rejecting claims that the vessels were linked to IRGC operations.

In a related escalation, Israel has continued airstrikes in southern Lebanon and issued new evacuation warnings for civilians ahead of further military action.
