- US President Donald Trump said he will make a “final determination” on a deal with Iran to end the war, though Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said that while “the exchange of messages is continuing … an understanding has not been finalised”.
- Earlier, Iran’s top negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said an agreement with the US would not be judged on “words”, as “only actions are the measure. No action will be taken before the other side acts”.
- Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said his military forces have pushed their invasion beyond Lebanon’s Litani River, located some 30km (19 miles) from the Lebanese-Israeli border, while dozens more civilian casualties were reported in Israeli attacks across Lebanon on Friday.
- The United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF, said 15 children were killed and 62 injured in a week of attacks in Lebanon, describing the death toll of children as “staggering”.
- The treatment of French nationals abducted from the Gaza aid flotilla by Israeli forces earlier this month is being investigated by France’s public prosecutor, including allegations of sexual violence, beatings and humiliation.
