Sharjah, – Motorists travelling between University City and Ard Al Maahid will experience temporary traffic diversions from Saturday, July 4, to Sunday, August 23, 2026, as construction continues on the Etihad Rail Station Access Roads Project.
The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) announced that the diversion is necessary to facilitate ongoing infrastructure works designed to improve access to the future Etihad Rail station and enhance long-term traffic flow in the area.
According to the authority, the project is part of Sharjah’s wider strategy to strengthen transport connectivity, increase road capacity, and ease congestion once construction is complete.
Drivers urged to prepare for delays
During the construction period, motorists are advised to expect changes in traffic patterns, particularly during peak travel hours. Authorities have warned that temporary delays may occur as vehicles are redirected along approved alternative routes.
SRTA has called on all road users to carefully follow diversion signs and traffic instructions to ensure the safety of motorists and construction workers. Drivers are also encouraged to allow extra travel time, plan their journeys in advance, and consider using alternative roads whenever possible.
The authority said cooperation from the public will help minimise disruptions while work on the Etihad Rail Station Access Roads Project progresses toward completion.
