Breast Cancer Awareness Events Happening in Dubai 2024
Breast Cancer Awareness Month, also known as “Pink October,” is an international campaign held annually every October to increase awareness of breast cancer, encourage early detection, and support those affected by the disease. The campaign traces its origins back to 1985, when it was initially a week-long event organized by the American Cancer Society and Imperial Chemical Industries (now part of AstraZeneca) to promote mammography as a key tool in early detection. Over the years, it expanded into a month-long awareness campaign.
The pink ribbon, now globally recognized as a symbol of breast cancer awareness, became part of the movement in 1991, thanks to efforts by the Susan G. Komen Foundation. The ribbon’s association with the color pink, which is often linked to femininity and care, has helped unite people around the world in a show of support for breast cancer survivors and ongoing research.
“Pink October” serves as a reminder of the progress made in breast cancer research, but also highlights the work still needed to improve survival rates and care. Free Screenings by Pink Caravan
The Pink Caravan campaign, organized by the Friends of Cancer Patients (FOCP), is a vital initiative aimed at raising awareness about breast cancer and promoting early detection through free screenings. Throughout October, the campaign deploys over 100 mobile clinics across the UAE, including Dubai, to provide free breast cancer screenings and clinical examinations.
The initiative emphasizes the importance of early detection, which can significantly improve treatment outcomes. Alongside medical services, the Pink Caravan also offers educational workshops to help individuals understand the signs of breast cancer and the importance of regular check-ups.

IGNITE Pink Paddle
The IGNITE Pink Paddle event, part of the Pink is Punk campaign, is a stand-up paddleboarding session held at RIVA Beach Club. It is one of several fundraising activities organized by IGNITE during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The event is designed to raise funds for breast cancer research, with 100% of the proceeds going to the Al Jalila Foundation, which supports research and patient care.
Participants, ranging from beginners to experienced paddlers, can choose between different distances (1km to 4km) and have the option to bring their own paddleboards or rent one on-site. The event encourages community involvement and aims to raise awareness for breast cancer in a fun and active way. Everyone who participates will receive an IGNITE Pink is Punk vest and a goody bag, and spot prizes will be awarded.

IGNITE Pink Moonlit Yoga
Reconnect with your body and mind under the stars at the IGNITE Pink Moonlit Yoga, a peaceful and restorative session held in support of breast cancer awareness. The event takes place at the scenic Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort, offering a serene, candlelit yoga session on the beach.
This session is led by Vanessa Kim Roux, a well-known yoga instructor, and it is designed to be accessible to all fitness levels. Participants will enjoy a gentle yoga flow incorporating breathing and meditation techniques, set against the backdrop of the ocean and Dubai’s skyline.
The proceeds from the event will go entirely to the Al Jalila Foundation through its Brest Friends program, which supports breast cancer research and treatment. This event allows participants to engage in a mindful, relaxing experience while contributing to a meaningful cause.

Take a break from the routine and join a fitness experience that not only sculpts your body but also supports a powerful cause. Reform Athletica is hosting a Sculpt and Burn Class on October 21, 2024, as part of the Pink October campaign, with all proceeds benefiting the Al Jalila Foundation for breast cancer research.
Participants can look forward to an invigorating session that combines elements of barre, Pilates, and yoga for a comprehensive full-body workout. Following the class, Hala Barghout, dietitian and founder of Colour My Plate, will share her expertise on healthy living through an insightful wellness talk. To replenish energy after the workout, attendees will be treated to nutritious snacks thoughtfully curated by Hala herself.
