TEHRAN / WASHINGTON, 23rd June 2026 (Gulf News Report) — Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has called for strict compliance with previously agreed terms in ongoing negotiations with the United States, stressing that progress depends on full and accurate implementation of commitments.
Speaking on the status of discussions, Pezeshkian said the effectiveness of talks hinges on adherence to the established framework, warning that deviations from agreed text would hinder diplomatic progress.
“The effectiveness of the talks with the US depends on fulfilling the commitments to the agreed obligations and their precise implementation,” he said, adding that “statements outside the agreed text do not help advance the negotiations.”
His remarks come as technical discussions between Iranian and US officials concluded in Switzerland, with both sides continuing broader diplomatic engagement despite unresolved disputes over nuclear inspections, sanctions relief, and regional security arrangements.
The developments unfold alongside easing tensions in the region, including the resumption of commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and Washington’s partial relaxation of oil sanctions on Tehran, signalling a tentative shift toward de-escalation.
