ANTONY Blinken on Monday met United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan shortly after he had met Saudi Arabia Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in a bid to prevent the Gaza war from spreading across the Middle East.
During the meetings, the top U.S. diplomat reiterated the need for any plan to include a unified Palestinian government for the West Bank and Gaza, work toward future integration of Israel with the region and pave the way for an independent Palestinian state.
He also outlined a series of requirements for the future of the Gaza Strip aimed at preventing a broader war and shaping the governance of Gaza after the fighting there ends.
Meanwhile, a top Israel official has hinted that the ongoing war may last up to a year until all the objectives of completely eliminating Hamas are met.
