Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has achieved 75 per cent of its targets across 21 services within three months, including 16 services powered by artificial intelligence (AI), and aims to reach full completion within the next three months.

DEWA Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer announced the progress on the sidelines of the 12th World Green Economy Summit in Dubai on Thursday.

Al Tayer credited the achievement to the collective efforts of DEWA employees and thanked UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Dubai Ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for his continued support and guidance.

He also highlighted the growing presence of Emirati professionals in senior, middle and junior leadership positions within the authority.

Meanwhile, World Green Economy Organisation Director-General Abdulrahim Sultan said the organisation was working to translate discussions at the summit into practical partnerships between governments and the private sector.

He explained that governments would identify and propose projects, while private companies would help implement them in collaboration with public institutions.

The organisation works with 96 member countries, offering opportunities for investment and cooperation across various sectors.

Sultan also highlighted the importance of international platforms such as the World Green Economy Summit, United Nations climate conferences and the UN Water Conference scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi.

He said governments were increasingly encouraging private-sector participation, particularly through businesses owned by citizens or involving citizen investment.

Ahmad bin Shafar, chief executive officer of Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), said the UAE had developed significant expertise in solar energy, water management, treated water utilisation and energy conservation.

He added that Empower was among the world’s largest district cooling companies, with a production capacity of two million refrigeration tonnes.
