Worshippers across the United Arab Emirates gathered early Friday morning in mosques to mark Eid al-Fitr, as authorities enforced restrictions limiting prayers to indoor venues.

Officials had earlier announced that Eid prayers would not be held in open-air grounds this year, citing safety considerations. Instead, congregational prayers were conducted exclusively in mosques nationwide under the coordination of the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department and the Department of Islamic Affairs.

In Dubai, prayers commenced at 6:40am, with more than 900 mosques prepared to receive worshippers. Authorities said arrangements were overseen in part by the Dubai Resilience Centre to ensure smooth operations.

Officials urged residents to arrive early and adhere to guidelines designed to maintain public safety while allowing the faithful to observe the religious occasion. The ‘Muezzin Al Freej’ initiative was also deployed, broadcasting Eid Takbeerat across mosques to facilitate participation.

Across the emirates, large numbers of worshippers attended prayers, demonstrating compliance with the measures while marking the end of Ramadan in a spirit of devotion and community.
