UAE Cybersecurity Council Launches First National Drone Cybersecurity Guidelines
The UAE Cybersecurity Council has unveiled the country’s first national Drone Cybersecurity Guidelines, marking a major step toward securing the nation’s rapidly expanding unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) ecosystem.
Developed in collaboration with Reach Digital, a subsidiary of Reach Group, and cybersecurity firm Shieldworkz, the guidelines aim to strengthen cybersecurity across drone operations in government, commercial, and industrial sectors. The initiative aligns with the UAE’s vision to become a global technology and innovation leader while reinforcing national resilience against evolving cyber threats.
“These guidelines represent a vital milestone,”
said Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of UAE Cybersecurity.
“With increasing UAV deployment across agriculture, logistics, and environmental monitoring, it’s essential to proactively address risks to airspace, infrastructure, and data integrity.”
The move is part of a broader strategy to support secure digital transformation and ensure the country’s readiness in the face of emerging technological threats. It also reflects the UAE’s commitment to aligning its cybersecurity frameworks with international standards and best practices.
Malik Melhem, CEO of Reach Group, emphasized the importance of collaboration in driving practical and scalable solutions.
“This initiative underscores our dedication to advancing the UAE’s digital infrastructure and national security,”
he said.
Mohammad Khaled, Vice President at Reach Group, added that the effort reinforces the UAE’s leadership in securing emerging technologies while enabling safe drone innovation.
The guidelines are expected to provide a robust framework for UAV cybersecurity, supporting the safe integration of drones into national operations and protecting the country’s critical digital infrastructure.
