RTA Completes Road Marking Enhancements in 25 Key Areas Across Dubai
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has successfully completed the renewal of road markings in 25 key areas, part of its preventive maintenance strategy for 2024.
This project involved updating markings on highways, main roads, residential zones, and major intersections throughout the emirate, aiming to enhance traffic flow and ensure safer journeys for drivers.
Abdullah Ali Lootah, Director of Road and Facilities Maintenance at RTA, emphasized the significance of the project, stating,
“The renewal included four major roads: Umm Al Sheif Street, Umm Suqeim Street, Ras Al Khor Road, and Dubai-Hatta Road. Additionally, road markings were updated in 21 internal areas such as Trade Centre 1 and 2, Al Quoz 1, 3, and 4, Ghadir Al Tayr, Al Safa 1 and 2, and Umm Suqeim 2 and 3. We also renewed markings at key intersections, including Al Ittihad Street with Al Nahda Street and Abu Baker Al Siddiq Street with Al Muraqabat Street.”
The comprehensive scope of work included lane markings, stop lines, paid parking spaces, traffic calming measures like speed bumps, pedestrian crossings, and directional arrows. These updates were executed in line with the highest global standards, ensuring safety measures were in place to maintain traffic flow and achieve optimal safety levels on Dubai’s road network.
This initiative aligns with RTA’s broader traffic safety strategy, reinforcing Dubai’s commitment to becoming a global leader in road safety and infrastructure quality. The renewed road markings are expected to guide drivers into the correct lanes, promoting smoother and safer travel across the emirate.
