UAE Launches Online Service for Instant Traffic Fine Clearance Certificates and Foreign Driving License Transfers
The Ministry of Interior has unveiled a series of new initiatives aimed at streamlining services in the vehicle and driver licensing sector, as part of its ongoing efforts to reduce government bureaucracy.

Announced on Monday, these changes fall under the broader ‘Zero Government Bureaucracy’ programme, launched in 2023 to enhance efficiency in administrative processes across the UAE.

Among the key updates is the removal of bank liens on vehicles, a move designed to simplify vehicle ownership transfers. Once a bank lifts its lien, motorists will be notified and provided with a service link to update their vehicle ownership card, making the process more efficient.

Another significant reform is the streamlined process for replacing foreign driving licences. Motorists who need to exchange their foreign licences can now upload a translated copy through certified legal translation offices. Once submitted, they will receive a notification with a link to obtain the new licence.

Additionally, clearance certificates for traffic violations can now be issued digitally, further reducing paperwork. Upon payment of any outstanding fines, motorists will receive their certificates instantly through the ministry’s platform.

The Ministry of Interior stated that these updates are expected to drastically cut down processing times, improve user experiences, and lower operational costs. The initiatives reflect the ministry’s commitment to improving the quality of life for UAE residents and simplifying administrative procedures.

This latest move is in line with the UAE’s broader vision of digital transformation and the government’s continued push to streamline services for its citizens and residents.
