DUBAI- The Kenyan diplomatic mission in the United Arab Emirates hosted a vibrant business meeting over the weekend at the Kenyan Consulate in Dubai, bringing together members of the Kenyan diaspora, entrepreneurs, and community leaders to discuss investment opportunities and the formation of a Kenyan business council.
Speaking at the gathering, Kenya’s Ambassador to the UAE, His Excellency Amb Kenneth Milimo Nganga applauded the resilience and entrepreneurial spirit of Kenyans living and working abroad, urging them to channel their success into investments back home in Kenya.
He commended ongoing efforts led by community figures including Mr. Lionel Smith and his team to establish the Kenyan-UAE Business Council, noting that the process is now at an advanced stage after progressing through key steps at the Dubai Chamber of Commerce.
“The formation of this council is almost complete, and I encourage all Kenyans to come on board, participate, and make it a success,” the Ambassador said. “This platform will be vital in strengthening trade ties and amplifying your voice as investors.”
He further emphasized the importance of unity and collective effort within the diaspora, praising Kenyans for their courage in venturing into business in a competitive foreign market.
“Many people hesitate to take such risks, but you chose to come here, build businesses, and succeed. In doing so, you are not only transforming your own lives but also contributing significantly to Kenya’s economy,” he noted.
He also urged Kenyans in the UAE to formally register with the embassy or consulate to enhance coordination, access support services, and stay informed on important updates regarding safety and opportunities.
Echoing these sentiments, the Consul General, Ambassador Jayne Toroitich outlined the mission’s dual role of promoting trade and safeguarding the welfare of Kenyan nationals in Dubai. He encouraged the community to stay connected through official communication channels, including social media platforms.
“The embassy remains fully committed to supporting the business council through guidance and facilitation,” she added. “However, its success will depend on your dedication. You are the bridge between government policy and business practice.”
