Tensions in the Middle East remain high after Israeli military strikes killed four people in southern Lebanon, prompting Iran to warn of a “harsh response” if attacks continue.
Iran has accused Israel of violating the Lebanon ceasefire arrangement 84 times since a memorandum of understanding was reached between Tehran and Washington. Iranian officials say continued military actions threaten regional stability and could undermine ongoing diplomatic efforts.
The latest escalation comes as United States President Donald Trump publicly criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, urging him to act with greater responsibility regarding operations in Lebanon.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that any future agreement with the United States must include the release of frozen Iranian assets, relief from economic sanctions, and a complete Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory.
Meanwhile, another controversy emerged in the occupied West Bank after Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich announced that he had cancelled the 1997 Hebron Agreement. The move could significantly reduce the authority of the Palestinian municipality over construction and development matters in Hebron, the largest city in the occupied West Bank.
The developments highlight growing diplomatic and military tensions across the region, with concerns mounting that renewed violence could further complicate efforts to maintain stability in Lebanon and advance broader peace negotiations.
