HARARE — The United Arab Emirates has expressed solidarity with Zimbabwe and conveyed its condolences following the helicopter crash that claimed the lives of prominent businessman Wicknell Chivhayo, his wife Lucy Muteke and three others.
In a statement issued by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the country expressed its sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims, as well as to the Government and people of Zimbabwe following the tragedy.
The fatal helicopter crash occurred on September 30 at Kudenga Farm in Marondera, killing Chivhayo, Muteke, two pilots and a security aide. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are continuing, with authorities expected to release a preliminary report within 30 days.
Meanwhile, Chivhayo and his wife Lucy Muteke are being laid to rest side by side at Glen Forest Cemetery in Harare on Thursday, October 8. The burial follows the completion of forensic and DNA identification procedures on the remains recovered from the crash site.
