DUBAI: Temperatures are expected to climb to 47°C in parts of the UAE on Thursday, with humid conditions, fog and mist forecast in several areas over the coming days.
According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), Thursday will be fair to partly cloudy, with clouds developing over eastern and western parts of the country. Some of these clouds could become convective during the afternoon.
Inland areas are expected to record temperatures between 41°C and 47°C, while coastal areas and islands could see highs ranging from 37°C to 43°C.
Humidity is expected to increase on Thursday night and Friday morning, particularly over coastal and inland areas, raising the possibility of fog or mist.
Winds may reach speeds of up to 35km/h over inland and mountainous areas.
Friday is expected to remain fair to partly cloudy, with clouds developing over eastern areas during the afternoon. Fog or mist could form again overnight and into Saturday morning.
On Saturday, clouds over eastern areas may become convective in the afternoon, while similar conditions are expected over eastern and southern parts of the country on Sunday. Early-morning fog and mist will remain possible.
The possibility of rain is expected to increase on Monday, when convective clouds may develop over eastern and southern areas during the afternoon and could bring rainfall.
The NCM also warned that winds could strengthen to around 35km/h during the period.
The current weather pattern is being influenced by a weak surface pressure system, together with an extension of a weak upper-air low-pressure system.
