Dubai has opened registration for the 2027 UAE SWAT Challenge, the eighth run of this international contest for specialised police tactical units.
It’s set for January 23–27 at Training City in Al Ruwayyah, and organisers are urging teams to sign up early so they have enough runway to prepare.
The event pulls in special police units, rapid intervention squads and tactical teams from across the globe. Over five days they’ll face five separate challenges built to test tactical skill, physical conditioning and technical proficiency. Scores accumulate across all five, and whoever ends up with the highest total takes the win.
It’s not purely a competition, either. Teams use the week to trade knowledge, benchmark themselves against foreign counterparts and pick up on current practices in rapid intervention work.
The Challenge has become one of the biggest events of its kind. Its sixth and seventh editions both landed Guinness World Records for the largest number of countries in a SWAT competition.
Spectators aren’t shut out of this one — the event is open to the public, so anyone can show up and watch teams compete over the five days.
