SHARJAH, August 25, 2026 (WAM) — Sharjah Airport handled more than 390,000 passengers during the peak summer travel week from August 10 to 16, as holidaymakers returned to the UAE ahead of the new academic year.

The airport recorded more than 175,000 arriving passengers and around 151,000 departing passengers, while more than 66,000 transit passengers passed through the airport during the week.

A total of 1,175 arriving and 1,175 departing flights were recorded, connecting passengers to more than 100 international destinations.

The busiest day was August 15, when the airport handled 48,859 passengers, including 25,251 arrivals and 23,608 departures.

The most active destinations during the week were Cairo, Doha, Dhaka and Amman, highlighting strong demand for travel to major regional and international markets.

Sharjah Airport said the figures reflected the effectiveness of preparations put in place to manage increased passenger traffic during the summer peak season.

The airport had expected to handle around three million passengers and 19,000 flight movements during July and August. An integrated operational plan was implemented in cooperation with strategic partners to ensure smooth passenger movement and maintain efficient airport operations during the busy period.
