Dubai Mallathon has attracted more than 100,000 participants who have collectively recorded over 220 million steps during the first two months of its second edition.
The community sports initiative, launched by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, encourages people across Dubai to stay physically active during the summer by transforming shopping malls into indoor walking and running spaces.
Participation has continued to grow, with Gate Avenue at DIFC joining on 1st August and Ibn Battuta Mall on 17th August. Dubai International Airport is also participating during August through four events held on Fridays.
The initiative has attracted families, young people, senior citizens, People of Determination, residents and visitors, alongside employees from government entities, private companies and community organisations.
Dubai Mallathon currently operates across Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates, City Centre Mirdif, Dubai Festival City Mall, City Centre Deira, Dubai Hills Mall, Gate Avenue at DIFC and Ibn Battuta Mall. Activities take place daily from 6am to 10am until 15th September 2026.
Participants can use dedicated walking and running tracks in air-conditioned environments, providing a comfortable option for exercise during Dubai’s summer months. Weekend sporting competitions are also being organised across participating malls, with prizes available.
Participation is free and does not require prior registration. Participants can collect wristbands at the venues, providing access to selected offers and benefits at shops, cafés and restaurants.
The initiative supports the Dubai Social Agenda 33, Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033 and the Year of Family 2026 by encouraging physical activity, healthier daily habits and family participation.
The second edition builds on the success of the inaugural Dubai Mallathon, which achieved a Guinness World Record for the Most Runners in a Mall Run Event after 1,392 participants gathered at Dubai Hills Mall.
