Abu Dhabi: The UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has clarified six situations in which employees are not entitled to receive compensation for workplace injuries, reinforcing the country’s commitment to workplace safety while holding workers accountable for their actions.

According to the ministry, compensation may be denied if an employee deliberately injures themselves, is under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the incident, intentionally ignores clearly displayed safety instructions, engages in deliberate misconduct, refuses medical examination or prescribed treatment without a valid reason, or is found to have deliberately breached workplace safety regulations.

MoHRE said the regulations form part of the UAE’s occupational health and safety framework, which is designed to reduce workplace accidents, improve productivity, and ensure that both employers and employees fulfil their legal responsibilities.
